Dean Jeanette Roberts seized an opportunity to share the work of the School in a recent interview with Chris Barncard, UW-Madison Communications. Featured in the April 17 edition of Inside UW-Madison, Dean Roberts commended faculty, staff, and students noting their respective roles and contributions to the School's thriving reputation.
Olufunmilola Odukoya, graduate student studying with Michelle Chui, assistant professor in the Social and Administrative Sciences Division, received the Best Post-Graduate Poster Presentation Award for her work titled, "Human Factors Analysis of Patient Safety Concerns Associated with Electronic Prescribing in Pharmacy" at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual meeting in March in New Orleans.
Michelle Chui, assistant professor in the Social and Administrative Sciences Division, is among three individuals selected by the UW Institute for Clinical and Translation Research (ICTR) Research Education and Career Development core (ICTR REC) as a KL2 scholar begining June 1, 2011.
Betty Chewning, professor in the Social and Administrative Sciences Division, was recently elected Chair-Elect of the Social and Administrative Sciences Section of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
Monica J Hwang, graduate student, working with Henry Young, assistant professor in the Social and Administrative Sciences Division, was awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Dissertation Grant to study direct to consumer advertisements (DTCA) for medications.

Deshpande and Kennelty recognized at national public health conference

Maithili Deshpande and Korey Kennelty, graduate students in the Social and Administrative Sciences (SAS) Division, both received best student paper awards in the Medical Care section of the 2010 American Public Health Association's annual research conference. Both are graduate students of Joshua Thorpe, assistant professor in the SAS Division.
Thorpe receives NIH award to further research on health disparities

Joshua Thorpe, assistant professor in the Social & Administrative Sciences Division, has received a two-year award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Health Disparities Loan Repayment Program (LRP) for his research in two areas, disparities in access to asthma medications in racial/ethnic minorities, and rural/urban disparities in healthy behaviors among adults with elder care responsibilities.

Beth Martin, assistant professor in the Pharmacy Practice Division and Michelle Chui, assistant professor in the Social and Administrative Sciences Division, have been awarded funding from the UW-Madison Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Seed Grant Program.
