Jiang wins Young Chemical Biologist Award

Jiaoyang Jiang, assistant professor in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division, has received the International Chemical Biology Society (ICBS) 2014 Young Chemical Biologist Award for her outstanding achievement as a young investigator in chemical biology.

Jiang’s research focus is developing new chemical approaches to study the mechanism and function of protein glycosylation in physiological and pathological processes.

The ICBS Young Chemical Biologist Award was established by the ICBS to recognize young investigators who have demonstrated accomplishments and made ground-breaking contributions to chemical biology. Candidates must be in the early stages of an independent career in chemical biology, typically within seven years of first formal appointment.

The ICBS has established a special session at the annual conference to showcase up-and-coming chemical biology scientists. The selected recipients will give a podium presentation during the special Rising Stars of Chemical Biology Session. The 3rd Annual Conference of the International Chemical Biology Society was held in San Francisco on November 17-19, 2014, with more than 200 worldwide attendees. Jiang was among three ICBS 2014 Young Chemical Biology awardees selected.
