Peg Breuer Beckman (B.S. '84), owner of Neuhauer Pharmacy, Madison, Wis., received the 2011 Most Valuable Pharmacy (MVP) Award from the Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC). Neuhauser Pharmacy was chosen because of their active involvement with not only IPC but their community and the industry as well. The IPC MVP Award celebrates a pharmacy that emphasizes service to their community reaching beyond the walls of their store, making an impact in the lives of their patients and their families.
Neuhauser Pharmacy is truly involved with the IPC organization by capitalizing on its vast array of programs and services including: Today's Health private label, survey participation and IPC website communications and front-end solutions through the IPC warehouse.
Neuhauser Pharmacy was established in 1979 and became an IPC member in 1984. Peg assumed ownership in 2001 after working at the pharmacy since 1987. Located right on the edge of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, it has become a popular business with both the local community and the campus. Their location gives them the opportunity to play host to all levels of pharmacy students and help shape the next generation of pharmacists.
With this prestigious award comes the recognition and contribution to their pharmacy school. On behalf of alumnus Peg Breuer Beckman, IPC, will make a $3,000 contribution to the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy. The funds will be earmarked to forward independent entrepreneurialism through promotion of the importance of independent pharmacists in their community service role.
Breuer was formally recognized at the IPC Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Calif. in July.
