The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy was proud to host the 43rd Pharmaceutics Graduate Student Research Meeting June 23-25, 2011, for the first time since 2001.
The meeting brought in 230 students from 16 different Midwestern universities spanning geographically from the University of Nebraska to University of Minnesota and points East such as University at Buffalo-SUNY. Student attendees had the opportunity to hear from many speakers who helped embody the 2011 meeting theme, "The essentials of an interdisciplinary approach to modern pharmaceutics research." Speakers included Ron Borchardt, Ph.D. (Kansas), Lian Yu, Ph.D. (UWMadison), David Grainger, Ph.D. (Utah), Cindy Wu, Ph.D. (Allergan), Gene Fiese, Ph.D. (Former AAPS President), Preeta Guptan, Ph.D. (WARF), and Lynda Fitzpatrick, J.D. Ph.D. (Michael Best & Friedrich LLP). The meeting was generously sponsored by major contributions from Pfizer, Amgen, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Abbott Labs, Allergan, Millennium (Takeda), Upsher-Smith Labs, Patheon, and the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy.
