deVilliers paper selected “Top Pick”

Melgardt de Villiers, professor (CHS) in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, is among the authors of a paper selected Editor’s Pick for the May issue of Expert Opinion of Drug Delivery.

Editor-in-Chief of Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery Dr. Uday Kompella selected ‘Differences in physicochemical properties to consider in the design, evaluation and choice between microparticles and nanoparticles for drug delivery’ by Daniel P Otto, Anja Otto, and Melgardt M. deVilliers.

In this review, Otto et al from North-West University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison discuss how physicochemical properties of micro- and nanoparticles influence the drug design, evaluation and choice. The authors suggest that understanding of the fundamental differences in physical and chemical properties can aid rational decision-making of these drug delivery systems. Read the full paper.
